Aviary
Aviary is a contemporary interpretation of classic 1960's millinery, inspired by the work of acclaimed milliner Stephen Jones for Comme des Garcons AW 09's menswear collection presented in Paris.
The collection of hats used was discovered on a garment-sourcing trip to Plas Teg, a majestic 17th century Jacobean stately home in North Wales.
Working through the extensive collection of clothing we stumbled across two cardboard boxes filled with over 40 of these beautiful pieces in surprisingly immaculate condition. We were immediately inspired to expose the beauty of this collection on a grander scale.
Using classical male portraiture as our framework, with a glance toward the exoticism of bird like features and the extravagant displays of male birds, 'Aviary' is a demonstration of timelessness of true style and elegance. It is hallmark VA.
A selection of pieces from the collection can currently be seen on display in the windows of Browns, South Molton Street where they are also for sale.
